Technology is an integral part of the curriculum and activities performed throughout Blessed Sacrament School. In the middle school, students come in for a tech class once a week, where they learn computer skills and applications, participate in STEAM and makerspace activites, learn and practice keyboarding and coding skills, as well as reinforce academic skills.
We have a 1:1 program with Chromebooks in the middle school. Every student has a device and is required to have it in class. Teachers are finding lots of great ways to make use of them, including Google Classroom and the Google Workspace apps.
Every year our program includes lessons on cyberbullying, internet safety and digital citizenship. It is important that our students learn to pay as much attention to their online safety as they do to their physical safety and that even in the seemingly anonymous world of the web, their actions can have consequences.
Below, are some websites of interest to middle schoolers. Some we will be using in class, others they may find useful for school work and some are just for fun!
