Technology is an integral part of the curriculum and activities performed throughout Blessed Sacrament School. In the middle school, students come in for a computer class once a week, where they learn computer skills and applications as well as reinforce academic skills. Teachers also bring classes into the lab for various computer-based activities. Students may use the lab during free times to get work completed and printed, check grades or practice their skills. We now have a 1:1 program with Chromebooks in the middle school. Every student has a device and is required to have it in class. Teachers are finding lots of great ways to make use of them, including Google Classroom and the G-Suite for Education.
This year we will especially focus on cyberbullying, internet safety and digital citizenship. It is important that our students learn to pay as much attention to their online safety as they do to their physical safety and that even in the seemingly anonymous world of the web, their actions can have consequences.
Below, are some websites of interest to middleschoolers. Some, we will be using in class, others they may find useful for school work and some are just for fun!
